Azul unveils the fourth and last Airbus with a Disney livery

Brazilian airline Azul Linhas Aéreas has officially unveiled the fourth member of the world’s most magical fleet, made up of several planes based on the Airbus A320 family promoting a unique livery with certain Disney characters. Who is the latest member? Let’s find out.

Two mice, a duck and…

Since 2021, Azul and Disney have partnered to promote select Disney characters on board the Brazilian carrier’s fleet. These planes – three Airbus A320neo and one Airbus A321neo – have an exterior livery with a unique character paint job, as well as a unique cabin with Disney-related decorations.

So far Azul has received a Mickey Mouse painted A320neo in September last year, followed by a Minnie Mouse A321neo in December and a Donald Duck A320neo earlier this year. The registrations of these cells are respectively PR-YSH, PR-YJF and PR-YSI. On July 30, celebrating World Friendship Day, Azul brought these three planes together at Viracopos airport in Campinas.

The fourth and final Disney-themed aircraft was recently unveiled by Azul Linhas Aéreas. This time it’s Daisy Duck, the prima donna girlfriend of Donald Duck, the character chosen to be painted on an Airbus A320neo. The A320neo is currently being painted and customized at Airbus’ factory in Toulouse, France, and is expected to fly passengers to 40 cities soon, the company said but did not give an exact date to see Daisy in the sky.

The plane will be named “Margarida Nas Nuvensor “Daisy in the Clouds”; it has been entirely themed in honor of the character who debuted in an animated short in 1940. Its design, in shades of pink, yellow, black and white, will bring flowers and other delicate details into harmony with the personality of Daisy.

Azul revealed the identity of the fourth plane in a cute short video posted on Instagram. A little girl named Alice had to put together a puzzle to find Daisy. You can see the video here.

Azul’s Fleet

The Brazilian airline closed the second quarter of 2022 with a fleet of 167 aircraft, with an average age of 7.1 years. Its fleet includes 50 Airbus A320 family aircraft, 12 A330s, 36 ATR 72-600s, 59 Embraer units and several Cessna aircraft. While registration details for Daisy Duck’s A320neo remain a mystery, the other Disney-linked planes are owned by leasing company BOC Aviation. Their lease is estimated to last until 2033. We should expect the same from this aircraft.

Azul is well known for having unique artistic liveries in its fleet. The airline has four planes with the Brazilian flag as its livery, and this is one of each of the planes it operates: an Embraer E190, an ATR 72-600, an A321neo and an A330-200. Azul also has a very colorful E195-E2, called the Ararinha Azul. It is painted to promote Brazil’s incredible wildlife and has six macaws on its outer fuselage. It really is a thing of beauty.
