(MENAFN- Trend News Agency) Honda Motor has revealed that it is developing a flying car. He plans to make the vehicle capable of relatively long-haul flights using the technologies he has accumulated in his business jet project, Trend reports citing NHK.
Honda says it has developed electric vertical take-off and landing, or eVTOL, planes with the goal of launching it in 2030 or later. Flying cars are gaining attention as a new generation mode of transportation.
The Japanese company claims that many similar vehicles currently being developed by other domestic and foreign companies have a flight range of around 100 kilometers.
But Honda says its eVTOL will offer a range of 400 kilometers and allow transportation between cities.
Honda says it will develop the vehicle by leveraging the expertise it has gained in its plan to create a compact business jet known as the HondaJet. He says the know-how will include electrification technologies for a gas turbine hybrid power unit.
Honda plans to conduct test flights of its eVTOL in the United States as early as 2023.
The company also says it will develop avatar bots with which their users can perform tasks and experiment with things remotely.
He says he is also developing small rockets with the aim of using them as launch vehicles for satellites in low earth orbit. He says he aims to make rockets reusable by allowing at least some of their components to land on Earth after they are launched.
Honda president and R&D director Ohtsu Kenji told a press conference that the company hopes to expand into new areas by creating technologies and products based on existing core technologies it owns. .
