The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted light to moderate precipitation in Bangalore between October 18 and 20. IMD added that the city will experience heavy rainfall from October 21.
Besides Bengaluru, Mysuru, Haasan, Ramanagara, Chamarajnagar received a heavy rainfall warning for October 21.
“Regarding Bengaluru, we expect light to moderate rains for another two days. For the entire state, precipitation will be slightly moderate on October 18, 19 and 20. From October 21, the southern districts like Mysuru, Ramanagara, Chamrajnagar, Hassan will experience heavy rainfall. The probable formation of a system near Sri Lanka will cause heavy rainfall in Bengaluru from October 21, ”said Geeta Agnihotri, IMD Chief, Bengaluru.
On October 17, the IMD Observatory at Bengaluru International Airport recorded 63 mm of rain. This airport observatory recorded 348 mm of precipitation in October. The HAL observatory recorded more than 1,000 mm of rain for the third consecutive year.
