New low-cost Canadian airline acquires first plane

Fans of low cost flight options in Canada will be delighted to hear that a new airline is about to take off.

Canada Jetlines Operations Ltd. recently announced the delivery of its first A320-200 aircraft from Jackson Square Aviation, one of the world’s leading lessors of commercial aircraft, which offers “customized fleet solutions and proactive services,” said a press release.

With expected growth of 15 aircraft by 2025, Canada Jetlines says it “aims to deliver best-in-class operating economy, efficient aircraft design and accessible flight options without sacrificing quality or convenience ”.

Scheduled to launch in the spring of 2022, the Canadian carrier plans to offer affordable travel with a variety of travel options to popular sun destinations.

For many years, cross-Canada travel was dominated by the country’s two largest airlines, Air Canada and WestJet. However, WestJet’s discount carrier Swoop has offered a viable alternative to historically expensive routes.

Likewise, Flair Airlines, launched in 2005, has grown considerably in recent years, now serving 28 destinations in Canada, the United States and Mexico. More recently, the low-cost airline added a non-stop route from Vancouver Los Cabos to its ever-growing list.

“This is a milestone day for our team as we witness the creation of our branded fleet, with the delivery of our first aircraft,” said Brad Warren, vice president of maintenance operations for Canada Jetlines.

Entertainment on Canada Jetlines

The new carrier has chosen Moment, a technology company that has developed a wide range of infotainment solutions in the transportation industry, to equip its growing Airbus 320 fleet.

The “Flymingo Box” system will provide a flexible, aircraft-powered digital suite with wireless in-flight entertainment options, including real-time travel information.

Canada Jetlines says passengers will be able to easily connect to a local cloud through their browser and access entertainment services directly on their mobile devices. “Designed as a compact, battery-powered or aircraft-powered server, the system has the capacity to provide video streaming to 100 passengers simultaneously. ”
