Six suspects arrested by the Johannesburg Flying Squad

Members of the Johannesburg Flying Squad arrested four suspects for various crimes in the Johannesburg area and recovered a vehicle and two unlicensed firearms with ammunition between August 26 and 29.

Four suspects have been arrested for possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition, and a red Toyota Sedan stolen from Royal Park Avenue in Mondeor has been recovered.

Two firearms, an R5 rifle and a 9mm Glock pistol with ammunition, were recovered and reserved for SAP 13. SAPS members are committed to keeping their communities safe by eradicating illegal firearms that have found in the hands of criminals.

Meanwhile, on August 26, K9 members in Johannesburg arrested two suspects for armed robbery.

Officers responded to a corporate robbery at Rebel Footwear, Meadowdale, and upon arriving at the scene 17 suspects began running in different directions.

Two suspects fled into an abandoned building and officers used police dog Billy and successfully apprehended the suspects. The two suspects were searched and stolen cell phones and cash were recovered.

The suspects have been charged and held at Bedfordview SAPS for armed robbery.

Johannesburg Flying Squad communications manager Raymond Sambo said the investigation was continuing in all cases and that working with the community had led to these recoveries.
