Southwest Airlines and Disney World Celebrate 50th Anniversary with Commemorative Plane

Southwest Airlines Co. and Walt Disney World Resort are celebrating their respective 50 years with a special co-branded aircraft honoring 50 years of memory and magic.

The new Boeing 737-700 sports the 50th anniversary logos of Southwest Airlines and Walt Disney World Resort, and is adorned with a unique “EARidescent” treatment created by Walt Disney World to celebrate this milestone.

For 50 years, Southwest has connected our customers to the people and places that matter most. Whether a client is flying out to visit relatives in another state, making a business deal with a client, or going on a family vacation, we are honored to be a part of those moments.

Celebrating 50 years of creating memories on our joint milestone anniversary is at the heart of this magical celebration with the Walt Disney World Resort.

The unveiling of the co-branded aircraft at the Southwest Airlines Technical Operations Hangar at William P. Hobby International Airport in Houston, Texas featured cast members from Walt Disney World Resort performing iconic songs that celebrate the story, as well as “The Magic is Calling,” a hymn to the station’s 50th anniversary. Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse even joined the event to celebrate the collaboration and put the plane into service with its first zero stop other than Orlando International Airport.

As Walt Disney World Resort launches the world’s most magical celebration of our 50th anniversary, we’re excited to bring even more magic to guest vacations and to heaven with help from our friends in Southwest.

The special promo plane also offers a lot of magic inside, as the top storage bins and shades sparkle with the Disney characters set in the EARidescent treatment. The plane will tour the Southwest system until March 2022. Disney fans can follow the plane using the tail number “N954WN” and share photos on social media using the hashtags # Southwest50 and # DisneyWorld50 .

The magic continues with a Southwest “50 Days of Giveaways” raffle, where one winner and up to three of their guests can receive a Southwest and Walt Disney World Resort prize each day starting today, September 28. to November 16. 2021. Potential winners can visit Southwest.com/50Days for a daily entry for a chance to win a vacation package that includes lodging, Walt Disney World theme park tickets, a $ 200 Disney gift card, and round-trip airfare to Orlando, Florida in the southwest.
